How
"Center Motors Choppers" Got Started
|
|
 |
| |
In 1998, I bought my first Harley-Davidson.
It was a 1973 SuperGlide. I had it for about three
months, and found out that the engine needed some
work. I took it to a local repair shop here in town,
and found out the engine was junk. A friend of mine
and I decided to tear down the whole engine and
rebuild it ourselves. |
|
 |
| |
We figured that while we had the engine out of
the bike and disassembled, we might as well take
apart the rest of the motorcycle....so we did! It
took a few different ideas on the look we wanted,
but when the bike was complete, it ran like a top!
The final outcome was a lot of attention. There
was a lot of "OOOH's N AAAH's'" everywhere
we went. That was a good feeling, let me tell you. |

There were some friends of mine that had motorcycles
too. They would frequently bring their bikes down
and have us do minor jobs for them, like oil changes,
tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, oil leak repairs,
and other miscellaneous things. A few months went
by, and it seemed to get a little busier. Not real
busy, but steady, just from people that would stop
down and see how things were going. Before we knew
it, we would have a couple more jobs to do and they
seemed to get bigger and bigger. |

| |
We took the idea of repairing bikes and started
building them too! We started to do a few custom
bikes that consisted of some Fabrication
(metal work), Wild Paint Schemes, Chopper-Style
Looks, Big-Tire Kits, and Engines to show what the
bikes were really made of! Then. . . . . the word
started to get out! "We Can Do What
We Say". |
